Throughout history, rich people have had to contend with the idea that Jesus says it’s bad to be rich.

Even though the Bible lays it out in pretty plain language — “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God” — a certain group of Christians have tied themselves into all sorts of knots to find ways of justifying their own personal wealth.

Some turn to intentionally misinterpreting the Bible, claiming that Matthew was making a bizarre, esoteric point about people riding camels passing through a specific gate in Jerusalem (trust me, it doesn’t make sense, and it also isn’t true). Others, however, find more ridiculous ways of making their wealth look a little better in the eyes of God.

After all, according to this guy, it’s not even his money and assets; those things belong to God. Well, if that’s the case, can I have some?
